Does the area where the rink is to be erected need to be flat? The area, will need to be relatively flat and we will also need good access for our truck to drive close by.
Can the ice rink go on a grassed area? If the rink is to be placed on a grassed area a ply wood sub surface will be required. We can supply this for a small extra charge. We can give more advice on this at the time of booking. Also refer to note above re flat surface.
Can the rink go on gravel? As with grassed area, a plywood sub base may be required.
What is Short Term Hire? Any hire period from a few hours up to 7 days is considered a Short Term Hire.
What is Long Term Hire? Periods of hire at the same venue, for more than 7 days are considered Long Term. Hire
How long do the rinks take to install? 7mx7m and 9m x 8m mobile rinks. Installation time, approx 2 – 3 hours. 10mx10m and 12m x 12m mobile rinks. Installation time, approx 4 hours. 15m x 20m mobile rink. Installation time 1 whole day. It will take roughly the same amount of time to de-rig. It is important that these set up and collection times are taken into account when arranging our arrival / operational and departure times.
How many people can skate on the rink at any one time? We suggest no more than 25 skaters on a 9x8m and 50 on a 12mx12m. The larger rink 15mx20 can take up to 100
How long should we give for each skating session? If you are charging the public, we would suggest approx. 30 minute sessions to include 20 mins on the ice plus skate changing times.
How much can we charge? Skating charges should include the supply of ice skates. Prices will vary region to region and the type of event being held. However the following is an average indicator of acceptable charging levels. Low Season (January to October) Children £4.00 Adults £6.00 for 30 minutes. High Season (November to December) Children £6 Adults £8 for 30 minutes.
What size of rinks do you supply? Our standard sizes are 7x7m, 9mx8m, 12mx12m and 15mx20m. We can however discuss different configuration if requested. Note: 15mx20m rinks are only supplied for periods of longer than 7 days.
Do you provide public liability insurance? We supply £10 million public liability insurance which is included within the hire fee. Copy of policy will be supplied if required. For Dry Hire contracts, where clients are operating the rink themselves, the hirer would be responsible for making their own insurance arrangements. We can offer recommended companies who deal with this upon request.
Do you provide risk assessments? Yes, a full risk assessment is carried out before use of any newly installed ice rink.
What if it rains? Wet weather has no effect on the ‘ice’ rink surface and in fact rain and snow can add to the feel of a real outdoor event. However, we can supply covers if required. – prices available upon request.
Are ice skates included in the hire price? A selection of different sizes skates will be provided. The number of skates will vary dependent upon the size of the rink hired. We also supply a selection of toddler skates which fit over the child’s shoes.
Can users use their own ice skates? Professional ice skates cannot be allowed on to the rink and they are likely to damage the synthetic surface.
Are your staff first aid trained? At all installations, there will be at least one person with basic first aiders certificate.
Can sponsors place their advertising material on the rink barriers? Allowing sponsors to place banners around the rink can often help towards hire costs and is quite acceptable. Each barrier can take an advertisement 90cmx2m. Double sided tape will be required to adhere them to the barrier surface and is to be provided by customer.
How many hours of operation are included in the price? Your quotation will be tailor made to suit your own requirements so as few or as many hours as you wish.
What will I need to supply? Power supply is helpful but we supply the complete package. No need to worry about a thing.
Will I need security if the rink is hired overnight? We must insist that full security be provided by yourselves, should the ice rink be required for a period of more than 1 day.
Can disabled persons use the rink? For Health and Safety reasons, wheelchairs are not allowed on to the ice rinks. However our rinks are completely assessable to disabled persons, as a disabled skaters chair is provided with each installation at no extra cost. No one is excluded from the fun!!
Is there any age limits on who can use the rinks? Mobile Ice rinks are suitable for all ages. Skates are provided to suit toddlers right through to adults.
Do you supply any optional extras, to compliment the rink. We can offer marquee to cover 7x7m, and 9mx8m rinks, a fantastic bucking reindeer, complete with flashing red nose, singing karaoke reindeer, Santa’s grotto and blue tree lights, Inflatable bouncy snow globe and real live reindeer as well as Illuminous snow men and Christmas trees. Why are the prices not listed? We work with each customers individual requirements, with the final prices being based on your location, the time of the year, whether you requiring the unit to be manned (ie short term hire), and how many hours of the day you require the rink to be operational. Once we have this information we can supply a quotation, within 24 hours.

Do you require a deposit? A deposit amounting to 25% of the total hire fee is payable to hold the booking for you. We require this within 7 days of your firm booking being made.
