FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does the area where the rink is to be erected need to be flat?

The area, will need to be relatively flat and we will also need good access for our truck to drive close by. Can the ice rink go on a grassed area? If the rink is to be placed on a grassed area a ply wood sub surface will be required. We can supply this for a small extra charge. We can give more advice on this at the time of booking. Also refer to note above re flat surface. Can the rink go on gravel? As with grassed area, a plywood sub base may be required.

We can supply small rinks to suit most gardens - ask for details.

Times will vary depending upon size required see examples below:

  • 7mx7m and 9m x 8m mobile rinks. Installation time, approx 2 – 3 hours.

Yes, a full risk assessment is carried out before use of any newly installed ice rink and is included in the price.

What if it rains or snows?

Wet weather has no effect on the ‘ice’ rink surface and in fact rain and snow can add to the feel of a real outdoor event.

Are ice skates included in the hire price?

A selection of different sizes skates will be provided. The number of skates will vary dependent upon the size of the rink hired. We also supply a selection of toddler skates which fit over the child’s shoes.

Can users use their own ice skates?

Professional ice skates cannot be allowed on to the rink as they are likely to damage the synthetic surface. We used ice hockey boots that have specially rounded edges.

Can sponsors place their advertising material on the rink barriers?

Allowing sponsors to place banners around the rink can often help towards hire costs and is quite acceptable. Each barrier can take an advertisement 90cmx2m. Double sided tape will be required to adhere them to the barrier surface and is to be provided by customer or booked through Ice Queen prior to the event.
